Equifax Credit Report
What is in my credit report?
Your
credit report includes the following information:
-
Personal information such as your name, address, date of birth
-
Historical data, such as previous addresses
-
Public records, such as bankruptcies or judgments
-
Your credit card, mortgage, and loan payment history
How do lenders use this information?
Basically, lenders want to see how good you are about making payments consistently and on time, as well as whether or not you carry high balances. They are also interested in determining whether or not you are overextending yourself financially. Your history of paying bills, in fact, is what is weighted most heavily when lenders evaluate your credit worthiness. This is why it is so important to pay your bills (or at least the minimum balance) on time each and every month.
Since your
credit report will make or break your chances of getting credit, it's important for you as a consumer to review your
credit report from time to time to check for errors - which could negatively impact your credit.
